Tracked fields let you mark the AI fields in a structured template that must be documented in every note. While a visit is being recorded, the note shows a Progress tab with how many of those fields are filled in, so you can catch anything missing before the patient leaves.
The fields you choose are saved with the template, so every provider and computer in your practice sees the same tracked fields.
When To Use
- Required documentation: make sure fields like Chief Complaint, Diagnosis or Anesthesia Used are never left blank
- Insurance and compliance: track the details your payers or policies require on every note
- Consistency across providers: give every provider using a template the same checklist
How To Choose Tracked Fields
Steps:
- Open Templates and open a structured template (Template Type: Structured Note)
In the editor toolbar, click Tracked fields (next to From Catalog). A list opens with every AI field in the template.
- Turn on the toggle for each field you want to track. Use Search fields to find a field in a long template.
Click Save. The button now shows how many fields are tracked, for example Tracked fields (1).
Fields without a name are listed by the text in front of them in the template, such as "Patient Name" or "Visit Date", so you can tell them apart.
Following Progress on a Note
Steps:
- Start a visit with a template that has tracked fields
- In the Template panel on the right, open the Progress tab. It starts at 0 of N documented.
As you record, each tracked field the AI fills in gets a green check, with a preview of what was documented. The tab title, percentage and bar update as you go.
If a field is still unchecked near the end of the visit, mention that information out loud while recording, or add it to the note yourself.
Turning Tracked Fields On or Off
Tracked fields are on by default. The setting is in Options → Advanced → Tracked AI Fields.
If you don't see the Tracked fields button in the template editor, check that this setting is on, then reload the page. Still missing? Contact Denti.AI Support.
Tips
- Track only the fields that must be in every note. A short list is easier to check during a visit.
- Tracked fields are saved with the template, so changes apply to everyone in your practice who uses it.
- Is a tracked field often left unchecked? Add or adjust its AI hint so the AI knows what to listen for. See Structured Notes: AI Hints.
