Structured Notes: Options

Options allow you to define allowed values for an AI element in a structured template. They maintain consistent wording, reduce editing, and help scan notes more efficiently.

What Options Do

• Constrain AI output to your approved choices
• Standardize terminology across providers and visits
• Enable quick edits by switching a value instead of rewriting text

Single-Select vs Multi-Select

Single-select: AI must pick exactly one option

Multi-select: AI can include multiple options if present in the conversation

How To Add Options

• Add or select an AI field in your structured template
• Open the field settings panel
• Add options as a list of choices
• Choose single-select or multi-select

Practical Examples

• Calculus, single choice: light, moderate, heavy
• Radiographs taken, multi-choice: BMX, PA, Panoramic, Cephalometric, CBCT
• Next visit, single choice: 3-month recall, 60 minutes; 4-month recall, 60 minutes; 6-month recall, 60 minutes

Options limit the AI to choose only from the list you provide. If an option would also contain free text, split it into a separate AI field.

Example:

• Blood Pressure Taken: Yes, No, Under 18 (Options)
• Blood Pressure Measure: AI field with no options
